Plan Overview

PA students who successfully complete all the requirements of the MDC PA Program and the NSU M.H.Sc. program volition simultaneously graduate with the professional credential from MDC and the Master's caste from NSU. Physician Assistants are health care professionals licensed to exercise medicine in collaboration with their physician partners. Doc assistants have a close working relationship with physicians. They are educated in the medical model designed to complement physician training.

Program Details
The Physician Assistant plan is 27 months in duration. During the first yr, students consummate course work in bones and applied sciences including, Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, Clinical medicine, Pharmacology, Physical Diagnosis techniques, and surgical technical skills. Several of these courses have both a lecture and a laboratory component.

Certification
Upon graduation, PAs have a national certification exam adult by the National Commission on Certification of Doctor Assistants (NCCPA). To maintain their national certification, PAs must complete 100 hours of continuing medical education credits every two years and sit for a recertification exam every ten years. Graduation from an accredited physician assistant plan and successful completion of the national certifying exam are required to obtain state licensure and the privilege to do medicine with the collaboration of a doc.
Accreditation and Laissez passer Rate
The Accreditation Review Commission on Didactics for the Doc Assistant (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued condition to the Miami Dade College Doc Assistant Programme sponsored by Miami Dade College. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation condition granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards. Accreditation remains in consequence until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards.
